Stupid people can really get your blood boiling. I guess I may be somewhat wrong here, because I took the bait and allowed myself to be angry again. But what the heck, my mom’s being attacked once more! So here I come to the rescue.

I’m disabling Cbox for this blog of mine. Apparently, it’s been causing the pop-ups coming up from my blog.

Argh.

Will be posting another tagboard when I find the time to look for one.

Well, you can always keep in touch with me through my e-mail. It’s just there, somewhere in the right.

May 23

Since I haven’t been really bloghopping these past few days, I can only with all honesty just vote for one blog for this year’s Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs.

Because of all the stress and haggardness and all, I wasn’t able to tell you guys that I’ve reached my 900th entry mark in Bababa ba? with my entry about not being that present in the online world. Yes, that’s 900 entries of not having anything better to do.

I have been somewhat disconnected from the online world these past few days. Being not able to write much, I owe the bloggers at least 2 entries about the recent blogger happenings, SpotPh’s blogger food tour and iBlog4. Wait, make that three if I were to write about 88db.com’s party. Though I left that party for a while, hahaha. Being my Mother’s driver for that night, I had to stay away from alcohol. And skipping dinner (because I thought there was food in 88db.com’s party! Darn bitin pica-picas), I spent most of the time in Banapple where I bumped into Vernie and AJ, who were very very wonderful company. :)

But alas, I’m still stuck studying (or procrastinating) for my summer classes. Tch. Oh well.

Yes, this is me procrastinating.

Will be writing those entries sometime soon. I just have to get through my exam and presentation first.

Currently am in Five Cows, in Trinoma. It’s our last stop in SpotPh’s Blogger food tour.

Gosh. Konti na lang sasabog na tiyan ka! HAHAHAHA. Wala pang kalahati ng 19 restaurants, busug na busog na kami.

Full entry and photos to follow. :)

New Look!

Finally, found the script that was messing things up.

My blog looks a bit fresher, dont’cha think?

Sep 21

Users of social media have a knack of blowing things out of proportion. Usually, one user would just need to write a few of controversial information, in which, a number of followers/believers would take on. An online/public outrage then follows.

Usually, it would end up in a gigantic snowball effect.

This has happened already too many times. I myself have written a few controversial posts which, according to my Mom, have gained a small following and even spurted a few initiatives.

Anyways. I was not surprised at how a blog entry of a UP student regarding tactless UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe members has caused a massive online outrage in both UP and UST students.

I know I’ve been biased towards my alma maters when it comes to the competitions (Ateneo for basketball, UP for cheering and dancing), so I understand where these numerous commentators come from. I mean, if something (or someone) that is a part of me was attacked, I would immediately retaliate with a few strong words of my own.

The only problem I have with a lot of commentators is that either they don’t know how to read, they don’t read on purpose, or they have read the preceding arguments but pretend to have ignored what they have read.

If you look at a few controversial massively-replied articles, blog entries or comments, most of the replies end up being redundant.

For example, in the UST SDT controversy, numerous commentators end up reposting (copy-pasting) their own comments because a few others continue to write and rebut without even reading previous arguments first.

I know copy-pasting your own comment feels like sh*t (been there, done that), but, how could you get your point across when the one you’re debating with doesn’t even read your argument?

Worse is that people end up stating arguments that are of no relation with the subject matter. I even read somewhere in the comments section of the linked article that a Thomasian is blaming the behavior of outraged UP commentators on the lack of religion in the State University. And I quote,

sublimeannuh wrote on Sep 20

I can’t blame you, walang religion sa UP. Maybe hindi lang talaga sanay na ganyan ang attitude ng IBANG Thomasians. Kasi KUNG (kung lang) Up ang gumawa niyan, hindi na kagulat-gulat. I guess you already know why.

So, wow. What kind of argument is that, eh?

And then the cycle goes on. Until now, people are posting comments on the concerned entry. Though things have cooled down a bit. :)

Anyways. Which laboratory in the the NIP deals with complex network analysis? Issues like these could make up a very good thesis proposal. Hahaha. And yes, I hope that I can survive long enough to make a thesis of my own. XD

Was tagged by Maki and by Lemuel. But wasn’t able to do it agad since it was the week of the blog disasters. Hahaha. And acads too!

Anyways. Here goes.

Rules:“Each person links to the person who tagged them. Then each person posts the rules before their list. Then they list 8 things about themselves. At the end of the post, that person tags and links to 8 other people and then visits those people’s sites and comments and letting them know that they’ve been tagged, and to come read the post so they know what they have to do …”

1. I’ve been blogging for around 3 years. I started in May 2004. I was more of a blogger than my brother back then. Though he set his blog up earlier than mine, he never updated it until around a year after. I remember that he used to make fun of my older blog entries. Hahaha.

2. I used to love math when I was in grade school. The love lessened when I was in high school. Now that I’m in college, I somewhat abhor it. Hahahaha. Oh how I tried to love triple and double integrals, but they never loved me back.

3. I have 3 sets of high school PE shirts that I don’t want to give away to my sisters. In this house of ours, when you don’t use your school PE shirts anymore the girls use them as their pambahay. The color of the shirts that I don’t want to give away are: yellow (because it makes a nice pambahay), orange (because I like orange), and maroon (oh how I love the juxtaposition of the name “Ateneo” on maroon color).

4. I love kids, but not the bratty ones. Reading back on my old (locked) blog entries, I have always expressed my excitement whenever my sister-in-law was to give birth (and this year was no exception when the baby boy popped out, hehe). My Christian Service Program (CSP) site back in 2nd year high school was the Foundling Home in Boys’ Town. My playmate during my Banlaw immersion was an 8 year old kid. When I’m at Aya’s, I bond more with her brother than her (uh-oh, she might kill me for saying this).

5. I’m not much of a sleeper. My brother Vince can sleep up to 12 hours when he has the time. My Mom sleeps whenever she can. Me, when I wake up, I can’t sleep again. :| Like today, I slept at 330am, only to find myself awake at 10. It’s 1230, and Vince is, well, still asleep (and he slept earlier than I did!)

6. I am almost always invisible in Yahoo! Messenger, or sometimes just “busy” (see the small red dot?). It gives me a weird but satisfying feeling of “I see you but you don’t see me.” And it also gives me the liberty of choosing whom I can chat with. It’s a sucky feeling when one sends you an IM but you don’t get to reply.

7. The phrase “bababa ba?” only stuck to me back in the summer before 4th year high school. It was in our college entrance test review class when a teacher of ours mentioned how weird the Filipino language was as one could already make a sentence by repeating a single syllable, in this case, the syllable “ba.” Thus, “bababa ba?” And also a lot of people call me “ba,” instead of the “bee-ey,” kaya ayun.

8. I always hang out in Stat or the StatSoc tambayan even if one, I’m not a Stat major anymore, and two, I am not a member of StatSoc. Hahaha. I just love hanging out with these people.

There, I did it. :)

I said that I’ll be sleeping at 12am. Guess what? It’s 2:37am. :p

I’ve been running and hopping around blogs that concern what the kids in Taste Asia: Blogger Foodfest 2 yesterday dubbed as “pampakinis ng mukha.”

If you would remember, a few entries of mine dated early to mid April concern a gigantic company (which I would not name) with members who start attacking people through the comments sections of blogs, or even building blogs themselves.

A lot of the pro-company commentators that I have encountered mentioned that readers should not believe bloggers, as most of the time they are posting opinions, and thus, are not credible.

Now, I am in no power to justify the credibility of bloggers, as I am just a small blogger myself. But what ticked me off is the generalization of bloggers being unbelievable or incredible. Other comments that I have come through have said that bloggers are just bloggers, writing opinions that are not reliable. Others even stated that what were written on blogs just stay in the blogs.

Great. How I hate hasty generalizations (although I’m doing some right now, hahaha).

Anyways. I believe in the power of New Media. It gives you a voice. TIME Magazine even dubbed YOU (and me) as the Person of the Year, as this era gave us much much more louder voice that could be heard at all the ends of the Earth (provided that the given end has an internet connection, hehe).

I find it annoying that other people put down this kind of media, as they said that some blog entries are “merely opinions” of idiots in cyberspace. Saying that these are just opinions, I can understand. But saying that other writers are idiots? Tsk tsk tsk. Low blow man, low blow.

I am in no position and have no power to enrage the whole Filipino blogosphere, as what I have mentioned are merely opinions, hiding the facts (ie links) that I have stumbled upon, not directly quoting what I have read. But to tell you the truth, I am somewhat disappointed at the people who don’t know how to embrace things new to them.

But yeah, some commentators have said that whatever you write in blogs, must stay in blogs. So shall I just keep my disappointment here, and forget about it right after I click that little X button on the upper-right hand corner of this window?

Friend bloggers, speak up.

But then again, if I stumble upon blogging non-believers, I guess I should drag them along the next iBlogs.

EDIT: Medyo mababaw naman lang siguro to, kasi gumawa ako ng isang mabilis na generalization. XD At kasi siyempre inaway na naman ako ng mga kung sinu-sino eh.

Woohoo!

Wala lang. Gusto ko lang gawin yun. Hahahahaha.

Blogging as a raket! Yey

Aug 15

All this blogosphere hullaballoo has reminded me of how early tribespeople acted: not yours, outside your territory, different views from yours, does not give in to your demands, refuses to acknowledge you power, more powerful than you are, ATTAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!

Have been playing Civilizations 3 recently, and usually this was the case when I settle along the borders of other countries. Threats (and extortion!) first from other countries, and then the attacks.

Well, the Filipino blogosphere is still somewhat young. It’s very vulnerable to circles attacking each other.

That’s what happens when you give too much power to a person. And blogging gives us power, a lot of it.

EDIT: Well, it’s controversy after controversy. Hay.

I like what Rick of ProjectManila.com said in Gibbs Cadiz’ post.

I miss the days when blogging was simple and personal. Blogging used to be more fun.

Hay. I miss

Stalking

I was stalking some IP Addresses (commentators on my Mom’s blog) when I tried stalking our own IP Address.

It was waaaaaay freaky.

The satellite image pointed to where our IP/ISP was located. It was just a few kilometers away from our house. Eep.

And yes, we’re being attacked, AGAIN. HAHAHA.

It’s 9:40 in the morning, and someone’s trying to ruin our day.

Blog wars, anyone? :p

What’s so cool and disturbing about Web2.0 is that it’s sooooooo easy to fake your identity. That’s why I use my real nickname and last name in the blogosphere, so as not to lose my identity when I read and comment on other blogs.

I just read Tita Noemi’s post about Ethical Blogging a few minutes ago. Hahaha. And I thought males logging in as sexy female blacksmiths in Ragnarok Online was bad.

EDIT: Things are getting out of hand. Woohoo! Diyan magaling ang bloggers eh. Tch.

EDIT EDIT: And no, I’m not attacking anyone here. Yes, I did link to a blog entry, but I’m not saying I totally agree with everything written there. :)
