I rarely watch the evening news. I only catch glimpses of the news when I eat my dinner at home and I chance upon 6:30pm. And when that does happen, my dinner becomes short-lived, as I gobble my food as fast as I can because I can’t stand watching the news while eating.
Well, who can stomach eating while listening about mangled body parts scattered around Manila, raped and harassed women (who describe what happen to them in detail, on national television), murder victims (plus pictures of their blood scattered around) and scantily clad celebrities with fake boobs and fake faces? As of writing this entry, the news is still ongoing, and obviously, I stuffed away my food as fast as I can and I inched away from the TV set moments after.
Anyways, there’s this headline, well, there are these headlines (more of them pop every night) that continuously catch my attention every night: news of young babies being thrown away, left alone to die, or killed. And of course I can’t help but be dismayed, disgusted even, at the parents of these children.
First and foremost, they bore the child. I don’t care whatever happened, but they allowed the child to grow and develop inside a mother’s womb and allowed it to come out of the world. Yes, it may just be an accident that they got the kid (wait, they wouldn’t have this accident if they didn’t consent in the first place), but they still have this responsibility over the life they created.
You may say that the kid was unwanted, but if they really can’t handle the consequences why did the parents have sex in the first place? And if the parents were stubborn and would still want to do the act, why did they not practice safer sex? Not that I’m for sex before marriage as long as it’s safe, pero diba?
I just hate hate hate hate hate hate hate it that these irresponsible people pass on the dire consequences of their malicious acts to pure and innocent and unknowing children.
Not being ready is not enough justification for me.
Why let the child suffer? Why not give the kid a chance?
Just bear the responsibility, please.
Even for just a while.
Even for just a while until you can find someone else who could give life to the child.
Just stop the killing.
Please.
Oh God, please, take care of the children.
