Taga Lipa Are!

A friend had this trojan stuck on her laptop. It shows “Taga Lipa Are!” on IE’s bar. Not annoying at first, actually. Hahaha. But once you get obsessive-compulsive, it’s as if you would want to scratch the screen to take the thing out.

At first I didn’t know how it operated, so I proceeded to charge my iPod using her laptop’s USB port. And all was good.

Until I plugged my iPod to another device.

When I connected my iPod to my dad’s laptop, I started receiving error messages saying that the computer cannot start “FS6519.dll.vbs” on F:\ (my iPod’s drive). And then my anti-virus program pops up, asking me what I should do with the file.
Puzzled, I googled for the file. And guess what I found out. It was the proprietor of the “Taga Lipa Are!” virus! (oh noes). And it propagrates through the USB drive! (oh noes again!)

Well, it was a good thing that I was using FireFox for my web surfing, and AVG for virus protection. So, the virus wasn’t given a chance to start-up and spread itself (AVG blocked it at first click). It was stuck on my iPod the whole time. :p Thus, I was able to delete the virus immediately.

If you were hit with this virus, Sir Martin has links to some files that can remove this file (although I wasn’t able to try these virus-removers, since I was already able to remove it). Good luck in your virus busting!

I also had that FS6519.vbs file… easily spreads through removable drives. It can be detected by Norton Antivirus, and says it is only a worm, not a virus, called VBS Solow B.

    Annoying yan talaga. Haha.

I can’t use the NOOB.KILLER.lrz.exe because it says the application has failed to start due to MSVBVM60.DLL which cannot be found. I tried reinstalling it several times but it still shows that. What am I to do?!
