Shift!

Right now, I am writing a letter to Fr. Que asking for a change in course. I hope I’m making the right decision.

Clearly, Dad opposes. He described the course as being too limited to the academic life. He wanted me to be in something big in the future. He described an uncle who took ME back then and who is now very successful. I told him that I could still end up in corporate life with this course.

All career stories are different. As Chax and I have discussed it, it would be wonderful that starting this school year we would be making our own career stories. I, for one, would want to create my own, rather than just imitating someone else’s. What I’m doing write now is as I am writing this letter, I am writing my own ‘once upon a time’

Please, pray for me.

The academic programme you take doesn’t 100% predict the career path you get to take. 80% of people are in professions/jobs they didn’t study for.

    Case in point: Erap Estrada

    Another one: me

One thing though, you learn a lot of things in school, but they’re not necessarily only from the academic subjects you take, but also from the things that happen in the periphery.

And I earn 400% to 500% more now than my first job as an economist. And 250% more than my latest job as an IT exec.

    I’m aiming for millions.

So, ito na lang tanong ko sa’yo: Since ikaw yung napakadakilang kuya at ikaw mismo ay UP graduate, papaaralin mo ba ako sa UP? :) hehehe

[...] It took a lot of brainstorming, soliciting advice from professionals and friends, surfing he internet for forum discussions and weighing the pros and cons, before BA made his decision. After all was said and done, we gave our blessings—to follow his heart. As we expected, he chose to continue his education with the Jesuits at the Ateneo. He requested for a shift in course from ME to Physics. He paid the reservation fee, and happily announced his decision to his friends. [...]
