Recall in tranquility

Prof. Yap instructed us to be more observant. From now on, I’ll try squeezing out more creative juices when I post blog entries so at least some entries would be worth reading. Rather than posting senseless rants and ramblings, I’d try my best to involve every reader.

So why are blogs not creative? Well, it depends on the owners of the blogs. If they continue to write about pieces too vague and too alienating, the entries end up to be not creative, at all.

Most of us would disagree at first as we would say that these vague “emo” and angsty pieces are emotion-filled, thus, for them, becoming very “creative.”

Yes, these would be creative for writer, and most of the time, only for the writer himself. Bravo, the writer concealed his true emotions by being too emotional. He/she may be good at that. Because of ramblings too senseless, other people would see such pieces as gibberish and nonsensical, causing them to not to read the piece at all! Well they may read the entry, but they won’t care what’s it about.

Back then I hated it when I receive no comments on my blog entries. For me, it felt really bad when someone did not comment on what I wrote. Because, hey, I thought what I wrote then were wonderful pieces of art. and are worth commenting on! Hahaha. I was once even devastated when I had a comment drought for weeks.

But then I realized that I was writing for myself, rather than for an audience. So if you’d observe who my readers are, I have no specific target, causing me to write about anything under the sun. I set no other rules but to write as how I see things, and to write in the way how I feel like writing: writing for myself. The downside to this is that rather than giving my readers the chance to “feel” what I wrote, I end up alienating most readers.

So my goal for this sem is to try to involve everybody in my entries. As Prof said, keeping blogs are encouraged as they would serve as writing practice areas.

Here’s to Creative Writing 10. ;)
