And I Thought Having an iPod Shuffle in the House Would be Fun

Not!

More like tiring, actually.

Tito Jun, who migrated to the States, sent his iPod shuffle to my sister Mox.

ONLY the shuffle unit. No docks, no software, no whatsoever.

Mox was overexcited and asked for my help setting up the shuffle. I agreed, thinking it would be good “training” if ever I would still get my Nano (or an upgrade, if monetary funds will allow).

Since we only had the bare shuffle unit with no docks, no software, none of Mox’s choice music, it was actually hard setting up and personalizing the thing.

It took me at least 4 hours in front of the computer just to set the thing up: 1 hour choosing and downloading the songs, another hour trying to install the songs by brute copy-paste force (and failed miserably), 30 minutes troubleshooting the device, 30 minutes downloading and installing the iPod drivers, 30 minutes redownloading and reinstalling iTunes (I had iTunes beforehand, but it turned out that i needed to update), 15 minutes of copying the songs. The other 15 minutes are the random reboots and replugging ins of the unit (big hassle, btw).

Makes me think twice about looking for cheaper second-hand units. High possibility of missing stuff. I’d rather have mine brand new.

Makes me think twice, too, about actually purchasing an iPod unit. Anythingbutipod.com, here i come!
