My brother, J Angelo sent me a YouTube video of Pia (my niece/goddaughter) dancing in their Moving Up ceremony. They were dancing “I’d like to Teach the World to Sing.” It was cute, as in C-U-T-E, cute! Hahaha. Pramis. I never imagined 3 year olds being able to dance like that.
But I can’t help but think that if Pia saw this video a few years from now, she’d burst in laughter and say, “OMG, I can’t believe I did that back then!”
Last night, in Chax’s debut, they played videos of her childhood. She was dancing, singing, and singing and dancing! Everyone was aww-ing and laughing at the same time.
I was a bit envious after watching the said videos. My parents weren’t able to chronicle my childhood through moving pictures. The only moving pictures that I have left are the ones in my memories. And I can’t see myself through it! Darn :p
But then again, I have something to be thankful for.
You see, my Mom has this habit of writing random stuff about us, her children. She wrote a few articles about us to either contribute in magazines and newsletters, or just to keep as memories.
Just recently, after releasing her 8 year-old article Raising Stress-Free Children, she had “opened her treasure chest of mommy moments memories” to share amongst her friends in the blogosphere. Memories gushed in once I read the latter entry. It seems like these memories were pushed waaaay back in my mind. Mom’s writings were memory refreshers.
So, my parents weren’t able to video me dancing the “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Song,” or me singing and dancing “Jingle Bell Rock” while wearing gigantic shades, or me singing in Ateneo Grade School’s farewell mass, or even when I *shudder* played lead role in the play Agyu. But somehow, Mom was able to write some things down. :)
And for that, I am very thankful.
I dunno. Written chronicles, for me, are kinda different. ^_^
(maybe that’s the reason why I blog. XD)
