I’m in in a Starbucks branch somewhere here in Makati right now. May meeting thingy si Jingo dito.

Tinext ako ni Mama. Wala raw kuryente sa bahay. :( Oh noooooo.

Nov 30

Hay. Manila traffic nga naman.

If only drivers and pedestrians followed simple traffic rules, driving would’ve been smoother.

Pero hindi eh. These jeepneys, buses, tricycles and pedestrians think that they own the road. So they follow the rules that they make up on the spot. :p

Pero hindi ka naman pwede magalit. Ikaw rin naman kasi ang talo. Hindi ka naman pwedeng mabunggo sa kanila. Ikaw kadalasan yung may kasalanan (oh, the irony) and of course, isang malaking hassle yun.

Pagbigyan na lang. Ayokong ma-aksidente eh. Hassle. Kaya ako, sinusundan ko ang batas.

Hahaha.

Ang ruta: SM North, EDSA, Balintawak, Caloocan, Balintawak, EDSA, North Avenue, QC Circle, Teacher’s Village, Kalayaan Avenue, QC Circle, North Avenue, EDSA, Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, SM North. Yahoo. ^_^

Manny Pacquiao’s statue to stand along Baywalk
Tina Santos

BOXING idol Manny Pacquiao will soon become the latest addition to Manila’s collection of local heroes on Baywalk, Roxas Boulevard.

“It will be slightly bigger than life-size and we will find an appropriate place for it along Baywalk,” [Mayor Lito Atienza] said. “We’ll ask a national artist to do it as soon as possible so we can unveil it hopefully by early next year.”

Atienza said that instead of their initial plan to rename the San Andres Sports Complex and Civic Center after Pacquiao< , the city government will just put up a gym inside the sports center.

It’s just too much. Tama na, sobra na.

Fine, he won against Morales. Fine, they gave him a hero’s welcome. Fine, they televised numerous interviews with him….

BUT ERECTING A STATUE IN HIS LIKENESS IS JUST TOO MUCH.

He won. That’s that. He’s been honored. Period. Tapos na. Pabayaan na natin. Masaya siya, masaya ang Pinoy. Ayun.

SO TAMA NA.

Yes, Mayor Lito Atienza, I know you adore Manny Pacquiao, you adore him too much up to the point that you almost renamed Manila’s sports complex. But you weren’t satisfied with that plan… “Hey, let’s erect a statue of Manny!” you said. “Let’s put it along BayWalk, and then let’s ask a national artist to do it!”

Don’t you realize that you’re overdoing things? A hero’s welcome and parade is fine. But a statue? In Manila Bay at that?

It took Rajah Sulayman, Evelio Javier and Ninoy Aquino their lives for them to be immortalized in statues by Manila Bay. But you, Manny, are still alive, and punching. O yun, pwedeng-pwede pang rason yun.

Magaling kang boxer Manny. Pero yung mga ginagawa nila para sayo? Sobra na eh. Sobra na talaga.

Hay. Ayoko na nga. Tama na. Umiinit na ulo ko.

Baka naman mamaya biglang magkatotoo ito?

This day marks the start of the application period for the UP Statistical Society.

I finally decided that I’d be needing some solid ground for me to survive in the future, so I applied. :p

Nawa’y makalabas ako ng buhay. Let’s go, coapps!

Strike 2 na si sir Neil ngayong umaga. T-T

Last Thursday, he cancelled our 7am class kasi nakalimutan niyang i-announce na may film viewing pala dapat sa araw na yun.

Pwede raw kaming mag-sit-in sa 830, 10, 1130 classes niya ngayon o bukas.

Hahaha. ^_^

After driving lessons yesterday, I was given the chance to finally have a face-to-face encounter with a PS3 and a Wii.

First impression: the PS3 is superdupermega BIG. The Wii’s small, and cute.

On the price: I asked how much the PS3 was. The lady told me it was being sold at a whopping P60,000 a unit ($1,200!!!). After hearing that, I immediately left the store. I wasn’t able to ask how much the Wii was due to shock.

It was said that in America, the PS3 would be sold at around $399-$599 for the 20GB and 60GB respectively.

Why is it that here in the Philippines, they are selling it at twice the suggested price?!

And I thought P3000/iPod unit was big.

My driving instructor made me drive through Commonwealth, then through the Elliptical Road, then through North Avenue, and then he finally made me park in SM North.

Kinabahan ako habang nagmamaneho sa Commonwealth at Circle. Tumirik ako somewhere sa Commonwealth. :p

Pero it’s only day 2 of driving 101, and I’m making a lot of progress. ^_^

You would’ve been 5 today. But now, you’re with God, and with Jesus, and with the Angels…

And that’s a good thing, right?

We all love you. :) Happy birthday, Belle.

Dreaming while driving.

I never imagined Dad would let me! Remember when I said that I was only dreaming that Dad would let me drive? This afternoon he let me!

Although na-distract ako at nataranta dun sa hump+intersection combination. Kaya tumirik ako. :p

Pero maligaya na ako na nakapag-right turn, u-turn, humps, at gear 3 ako. XD

Nov 25

I just had the weirdest dream today.

At first, I was in a room with Mom, bigla akong gininaw, nanginig, at nanigas.

Tinanong ni Mama, “naramdaman mo ba yun?”

“Oo, ano yun?”

“May espirito. Gusto mo ba kausapin?”

“Sige.”

And all of a sudden a gold-fish like creature appeared in front of me. It had no eyes, no mouth, and very very long angel-like fins. I started to talk to it. I asked her some questions, pero sinasagot lang niya yung yes or no na mga tanong.

The next thing I remember was I was with the family, in an odd car. The seats were raised very high from the floor, and the car had two hand-brakes. I asked Dad kung pwede akong magmaneho. He said yes (o diba, panaginip nga!) and we changed seats.

I drove until we reached a parking lot with around 5 old muscle cars bearing white stripes. They had special plate numbers, one beared the plate AAA 111, while the other ZZZ 999. While I was trying to park their trunks opened, and the drivers pulled out some pickets that said, “NO TO ____” (blank kasi nakalimutan ko.)

I tried to drive further but got lost on the way. And then we were back from where we came from, and we changed seats. :p

Tapos nagising ako. :p

I’m allergic to something that I do not know.

Argh.

Scratch, scratch, scratch.

Nov 23

The Philippine government recently cut the education budget. From P7 billion, they changed it to P3 billion. So to be able to compromise for the loss, what the State University proposed to do is raise the tuition fee from P300/unit to P1000/unit.

In the evening news today, Ping Lacson was complaining about how he and the other senators and congressmen weren’t able to receive their pork barrels, totaling to P4 billion.

The next segment in the news showed UP students, rallying, complaining about the proposed (or was it approved?) tuition fee increase.

Oh, how twisted some people can be.

Last November 14, Microsoft has finally entered the portable entertainment industry with the launch of Zune, Microsoft’s own handy-dandy music playing device.

I doubt that the Zune will be a big hit. The office software producers have lost (and are losing) money in their gaming industry venture. So what more a music playing device that offers what other players are already offering? (well, except for the WiFi capabilities and Xbox360 sync-abilities, which I feel are very useless. :p)

iPod, I believe, has succeeded in the past years because of two things: BRAND and CONVENIENCE.

Brand
You’ll trust something that’s made by Apple more than something that’s made by some unknown Japanese company (you know, the players you see in Divisoria, with the barok manuals.). When your iPod breaks down, bring it to the nearest Apple Center, and they’ll try to see what they can do. Your cheapo mp3 player breaks down, you’ll have to buy a new one.

My cheapo Japan-made mp3 player, which was retailed at around P2500, broke down last summer. I wasn’t able to get it fixed, walang service center eh. I also wasn’t able to replace it until just recently. Wala akong pera eh, hahaha.

Convenience
Yes, opening iTunes just to get your mp3s to your iPod can be a pain in the ass (oo mareklamo ako dati), but once you’re done with that process, *poof*, listening to your music is just a walk in the park.

Uploading your mp3s in a flash-based mp3 player is much, much easier (drag and drop, copy and paste), but, for me, it’s harder to find your mp3s and actually listen to them (*click* *click* *click* “Now where did that Paris Hilton song go?”) With an iPod, it’s glide, click, glide, and click, and then you’re off to musicland.

Yes, yes, the iPod may just be a state of mind, but it’s one of the best things out there. Who wouldn’t want an iPod? It’s fuuuuun. XD
