Just once, I got him to ride a boat with me. The sky was overcast–that must have been November–and the air smelled of rain and boiled peanuts in the empty park. I was sitting across from him as he rowed, and te gathering mist blurred the park behind him until all there was, it seemed to me, was his face and the stark red of his parka. I imagined we were alone at sea. The owl and the pussycat. In a beautiful pea-green boat. They took some mhoney and pl-enty of money. But there was something about the way he rowed, the way his eyes clung to the water below that made me ask, “Are we sad, Papa?” He jerked his head as if I woke him up from sleep, and our boat rocked a little. Just then, a big cloud full of cold rain went down on Burnhamn, on the lake, on us. “Oh no, race to the shorehaha!” “Hahahahurry, Papahaha!” The rain wet the tip of my nape above my jacket collar and crawled down my back like a worm.

True Faith - Alaala

Sa pagsapit ng dilim
Ang buwan at mga bituin
Sa pagpukaw sa umaga
Sinag ng araw ay kakaiba

Chorus:
Bakit nga ba ikaw
Ang nasa aking alaala?
Alaala

Hay… This sucks…

Hahaha. Ang weirdo ko talaga.

They’re fun, nice people. Hahaha. Kinausap ako ni Kuya Sherwin (buddy ni Kim), at kinukulit akong sumali.

So yung current roster: UP DanceSport Soc, UP Variates, UP StatSoc, SIKAD, PUGAD.

Bahala na si Batman, hahaha.

I miss the stage.

Ate Bia! If you’re reading this: tara, Trumpets tayo sa summer!

The only problem with Trumpets is unlike an org, it’s not continuous/forever/permanent.

It’s temporary, short-lived. Parang pagkatapos mong dumaan dun, wala na. Ibang-iba na yung next year.

Pang-tawid-gutom lang, kung baga.

I wore my maroon Ateneo PE shirt to UP today. You know Ateneo PE shirts, they scream of “Atenista ako!” (O, all caps pa, diba).

People were staring as I was walking. Freaky. Hahaha. People I knew were making fun of me.

Roy: Bakit ka nandito? Eh Ateneo shirt yan ah!

A member of an engineering org engaged me in a conversation to advertise their contest.

Eng. Person: Sali na kayo! O diba, tatlo kayo? Kaya niyo yan!
Eng. Person: Kayang-kaya mo ‘yan! Ateneo ka naman nanggaling eh!
Ako: Nyek! Ano kinalaman nun? Hahaha

Nung pumasok ako sa classroom ko nung math, a lot of my classmates were staring at me.

Marc: Ayyy, Atenista! Porke’t nanalo sa UAAP kahapon! Hahaha.

The upperclassmen in Stat were making fun of me, people in AS were staring at me. Yikes. Sabi pa nga ni Mon at Tonico na ayaw nila akong kasama kasi raw baka bugbugin ako ng mga UP people.

Why do some people make a big fuss out of it? It’s just a shirt diba?

It’s the epic battle of Katipunan, I guess…

This afternoon, all of a sudden I found my schedule very unexciting. Wala akong org, walang stat stuff, basta walang gagawin. I could’ve gone to Lauan, pero, I’m going there tomorrow (eep, hindi nga pala ako naka-attend ng basic course nung Tues/Thurs! Stupid rain).

Been texting with Aya recently. I’m that idle barbaro na nakiki-tambay sa iba’t ibang org at iba’t ibang block. I really need to make up my mind on what I would really be wanting to do.

Well, there’s Lauan. But I have been a bit inactive since for me, it’s FAR. Considering the fact na my school is just beside our village, Katipunan becomes a very far area. Hahaha. I hope the Lauan visit tomorrow afternoon would rekindle the Lauan flame. :) (Nins, isabay mo kasi ako papunta at ihatid pauwi, wahahahaha)

I’m seriously considering accepting Ryan’s invitation to sing for the AHS Glee Club and Miriam Glee Club in their “musical soiree.”

And I’m also seriously considering joining UP DanceSport Society. Kung gumaling man ako sa ballroom. As of now, bano ako na ewan. (Ate Marge, I really need your advice regarding this).

Variates or StatSoc? Ewan ko pa. Hahaha.

Pugad? Kung maga-apply man ako, siguro next year na. Hahaha.

Sikad? Hinde. Mamamatay ako sa asthma.

UP Street? Putek, natatakot ako sumali dito. Is there a dance group in UP that is less malupit? Hahaha. Sing and dance pa nga sana, kung pwede.

UPSA o UPCC? Ewan ko pa kung ganun ako kagaling (kaya AHSGC, here I go, hahaha).

Hahaha.

Pero as of now, I have Lauan and Stat. ;)

Barbaro: Lagalag, wanderer, weirdo.

Dr. Emerlinda Roman, the University of the Philippines’ president, will be speaking in Lauan this Saturday. She’s going to speak about Science, Technology, and the University.

Yung weird dito, Lauan kinda revolves more on Atenistas. Dr. Roman would be talking about UP stuff daw.

Miguel says Dr. Roman would be brainwashing the Atenistas to go to UP, bwahahaha. >:)

On Saturday, July 29, at 5pm, we will have a get-together with the President of UP-Diliman, Dr. Emerlinda Roman. I understand that she just got back from an overseas trip. We have to thank Junba, who is a good friend of Pres. Roman, for pushing the invitation.

UP is the premier State University and, whether or not you think it’s the country’s best university (some of you will probably have other opinions), the people who map out the direction for UP still have a significant influence on society. It’s good to know what they think and where they are heading the young people under their care. UP is celebrating its centennial in 2008, so Dr. Roman’s is a special presidency (besides the fact that she is the first woman president).

The formal topic of Dr. Roman’s get-together is Science, Technology and the University.

I got a 34.5/39 in my second Math17 exam. Masaya na dapat ako, pero, I was super depressed because I know that I could’ve done better. My two seatmates got exceptional scores: Tonico with a 38/39 and Han with a whopping 42/39. So sobrang dagdag yun sa aking kalungkutan. (nerd ba? Hahaha.)

Pagdating nung Physics10 sobrang nanghina ang loob ko. Sigurado akong maraming mali sa exam ko. :p Ang dami ko kasing inimbentong mga sagot (”law of sweeping motion” at “man is unique”). For me, this exam wasn’t uno-able.

Turns out na sobrang bait pala ni Sir Marko mag-grade. Basta nandun yung keywords, tama ka (so naconsider yung “law of sweeping motion” ni Kepler at yung “man is unique” vs Copernicus, bwahahaha.)

So…

100/100 beybeh!

Pero along with 20++ students with scores ranging from 100/100 to 103/100. Hahaha. :p

But still. :D

Here’s to wonderful profs!

“Imbes na magdala ang mga kabataan ng tambak-tambak ng libro papuntang paaralan, mas makabubuti kung bawasan na lang natin ang mga subject kaysa pilitin ang ating mga estudyante na mag-aral ng mga bagay na hindi naman talaga nila gagamitin sa kanilang paglaki.”

Ipinapanukala ni Chiz Escudero na bawasan ang mga subject ng mga estudyante sa paaralan.

So ano na nangyari dun sa tinatawag nating “wholistic approach in learning?”

Of course, mas nahihirapan ang estudyante kasi mas marami silang pinag-aaralan araw-araw.

Having studied in Ateneo has taught me this: walang kuwenta yung iba sa mga pinag-aaralan ko.

In the future I’ll be forgetting about who Zoroaster is, who killed Julius Caesar, who Cleopatra was, why Rizal was killed, what happened in the First World War, what gerunds are, what the Pythagorean triplets are, how Do Re and Mi sound like, who composed Surprise!, what F = ma means, how Eratosthenes computed the circumference of the Earth, how far the sun is from the Earth, and similar stuff. But, what matters is the discipline that learning all these seemingly “useless” things has taught me.

(wow, all of a sudden I miss Mrs. Sacluti. Hahaha.

Makes me wonder kung bakit nga ba may RGEP sa UP. (RGEP = we get to choose our subjects. Except for the majors, of course. :p)

Teka, we’re mature enough na, hahaha. We can now choose what we want to learn.

Support the kabataang Pinoy. ;)

EDIT: Nyahahaha. Nagsulat pala sa Vince tungkol sa ganito. Tungkol sa “pointless” subjects. Hahaha.

Dream boy?

Boy bud?

Sineseparate pala sa categories ang mga boys?

Hahahaha.

Was bonding with Kim and Aleli (my “blind date,” hahaha) in Shang this evening. After watching Pirates of the Caribbean 2 in Gateway, wala lang, tumungo kaming Shang. We talked about a lot of stuff. As in A LOT. Hahahaha.

Hello sa aking mga bagong girl bud! Hahahaha. Hi Kim at Aleli! :D

Walang hiya. From mga 7:00am to 4:30pm wala kaming kuryente. Kaya sabog kaming mga magkakapatid. We ended up playing with candles until nagkaroon ng ilaw.

Argh.

That sucked, big time.

Pero sibs bonding moment naman. hahaha :)
